Culture Evolution and Organisational Renewal

Organisations benefit from periodically refreshing their values and behaviours, collectively ‘looking into the mirror’ to identify what is needed to evolve and achieve the kind of growth and transformation they need. Culture change happens on all levels – individuals, teams, departments, whole organisation.

Examples of culture evolution and organisational renewal includes:

  • ‘Crossing the Threshold’ programme with Croydon Borough Council, taking a whole organisation approach to process the significant damage and fall-out from the poor financial management of the prior leadership team, and to find ways to collectively move forward. The project involved a cascade approach, working firstly with the Exec team and Heads of Services, then via a train the trainer approach to deliver a bespoke workshop for change for the whole organisation.
  • Creating a culture map with a founder-led marine-plastics charity to distil research, advocacy, education and innovation strands into a coherent  and authentic framework that could be used for onboarding, development, decision-making, communication to funders, organisational behaviours and programme evaluation.
  • Supporting Birmingham City University at a time of significant culture change to develop different strands of a university-wide culture including developing  and training mentors for a reciprocal mentoring scheme involving Deans and Heads of Department and staff across the organisation as a way of more actively modelling what it means to be a learning organisation.
  • Acting as sounding board and confidante to HRD of organisation undergoing a significant review to embedding an ESG framework (environmental, social, governance) into their culture to support aligned behaviours and decision making.
